Language of Teaching

Majority of the courses are taught in good English. Some courses taught only in Lithuanian are marked on the degree programs or tuition fees tabs. Languages on the street are mainly English and Lithuanian.

Foundation/Preparatory School / Course / Program

Applicants who don’t have English proficiency results are given a simple (street conversation level) English test. Those who fail are given English course for one or two semesters before they start the main courses. Also, applicants who have deficiency course (not enough of the prerequisite courses) are also giving such courses before they start their main program.

 

English Proficiency Documents / Requirements 

Non-English speaking international students will need to submit an English language proficiency certificate (any of these – IELTS, TOEFL, SAT, IGCSE, PTE).

  — If the students don’t have any English exam results like TOEFL (optional), they can take the university’s English proficiency exam (testing if you can communicate in basic English) after they complete their registration in our campus.

When deciding to study abroad, there are many costs students must consider as they make their budgets. These mainly include:

Awarded to students with:

These scholarships are open to all international applicants. All prospective students who submitted their application through the application system will automatically become candidates to receive a scholarship.

Visa and Admission

For admission, an international candidate needs to have submitted copies of education documents, passport and legalized translation of all these documents during the application and admission process.

As foreigners would expect, it will also be required by the immigration department that travelers and international students have in their possession n Entry Visa before flying to Lithuania, along with an original invitation and original education documents.

The university will send an official invitation to study at the consular office of the Republic of Lithuania at the place of residence of a foreign applicant (for visa countries) and a letter to inform the applicant (for visa-free countries).

 

Do You Need a Visa?

Travel without Visa — In order to study in Kaunas, you will need to legalize your stay in the territory of Lithuania. If you are a citizen of a Lithuania or live in a country that can travel to Lithuania without a visa, then travel without a visa to Lithuania applies to you. For more information and further clarification, please contact us. In addition, visas are not required for holders of the United Nations “laissez-passer.”

Travel with Visa — If you are a non-Lithuanian citizen, you will need to obtain a visa at a Lithuanian consulate/embassy in your home country before your arrival in Lithuania. Once you have arrived in Kaunas, you will need to apply and obtain a residence permit before your visa expires in order to prolong your stay.

 

Education Requirements for Student Visa

Student visa to come study in Lithuania is not difficult to obtain. You apply for a Lithuanian student visa from the closest Lithuanian embassy to you.

  • Once you have your admission letter
  • confirmation letter from university (proof of payment of first tuition fees)
  • and has provided documents requested by the embassy.

There is no reason to reject your student visa application. In all our dealings, our students have never been rejected visa. But we have heard of a few students (not our own) who were rejected because they didn’t get the documents needed. But when they reapplied, it was granted them.

 

Visa Requirements & Documents

Document language:

All documents executed in a foreign language (except English) shall be accompanied by their translation into English. Translation of all documents must be notarized.

In order to apply for a student visa to study in Lithuania, you will need to submit several documents. These documents include:

1. 6 months validity on passport — An International Passport or travel document valid for at least 6 months after the expiry of your visa.

  — N:B: Your passport must have at least two unused pages for entry/departure visa endorsements.

2. Photocopy of passport (all pages)

3. Filled visa application form online or provided by the embassy (varies in each country)

4. A proof of the visa application fee payment (An original receipt).

5. A 29mm x 34mm, colored passport with white background (have at least two more copies just in case).

6. Admission and acceptance letter by the university (for student visa applicants).
A letter from your employer outlining the reason for your visit, who you will be meeting and details of any payment/expenses (for work visa applicants).
Letter of Invitation (for visitor visa applicants).

7. Payment receipts of school fees usually from a bank (or email of the transaction if you paid online)

8. Confirmation letter from the University acknowledging receipt of payment

9. Proof of basic education qualification, etc, diploma, certificate and SSCE (IGCSE/A LEVEL/WAEC/NECO) signed and approved by the ministry of education.

10. Guarantors letter signed by the sponsor and the student, stating that sponsor will cover all the expenses of the student and the student will never apply to any person or institution (including, university) for financial support or scholarship certified notary public.

11. A copy of certificate incorporation of the sponsor. (Only if the student is using a company bank statement of account).

12. A copy of the certificate of income tax clearance of sponsor. (Only if the student is using a company bank statement of account).

13. Original approval reference letter from the bank branch manager.

14. Bank statement (maximum 3 months old) — Financial documents to provide that you can financially sustain yourself in Lithuania. Yours or that of a close relative or from your sponsoring company or government.
These documents might include:– bank statements- proof of earnings or the financial document of a guardian in Lithuania that has sufficient resources to financially support you.

15. (for Private medical treatment visa applicants) Letter from a doctor or consultant in showing:
– Details of health condition
– Cost and duration of treatment
– Location of treatment (for Private medical treatment visa applicants).

 

Most of the documents cut across all the different types of  Visas and some are peculiar to the visa type needed. Submitting fake documents result in abrupt closure of the visa application, and seizing of the documents. Original documents are mandatory for your application.

Health Insurance Requirement

International students will need to obtain a doctor’s certificate confirming that they can freely undertake study in the field of their choice.

You will also need to be insured for the duration of your studies; this is part of your tuition fees.

This is the rule for students studying abroad…

Yes, you can work but about 90% of countries don’t give student work permits… However, students can work informally and part-time… But all governments and university do not expect students to depend on their possible employment to pay for their tuition and accommodation…

In fact, it not ever possible for students to study full-time each semester and work as well and yet be able to earn enough for their tuition fees and accommodation… Not possible…

They might be able to depend on their possible work for living expense but never for tuition and accommodation…

They can’t study and still earn enough for those kinds of stuff (unless they have their own businesses).

The University has 9 faculties, 8 institutes, 9 research centers, 23 student organizations, 12 dormitories, 7 art societies. It has a Sports Centre, which offers 20 sports classes, and a publishing house “Technologija”.

KTU is the founder of two integrated centers of research, studies, and business – “Santaka” and “Nemunas” valleys. KTU National Innovations and Entrepreneurship Centre is responsible for protection and commercialization of the University’s scientific production.

There are 10,231 students studying at the university; 7,481 of them are students of the first cycle (bachelor’s) and integrated studies, 2,398 –master’s students, 324 doctoral students, and 28 students of professional studies. 515 international students study at KTU.

There are 129 study programmes in total; 62 of them – for the bachelor’s and integrated, 67 – for master’s, 18 – for doctoral studies. KTU offers 46 bachelor’s and master’s study programmes in English; all Ph.D. studies are conducted in English.
