National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” is one of the biggest educational establishments in Europe. It trains 25 thousand of students, postgraduates; doctorates as well as foreign students from neighboring and far abroad countries.

$200 application or enrollment fee is required by the university for your invitation letter to be sent.

Before getting visa student must have invitation letter. The cost of invitation for studies includes the cost of invitation for studies blank, visa support fee (paid in Ukraine), DHL courier service cost, taxes, banking commissions and constitutes $200.

Documents for admission to Postgraduate Training Program (PhD)

Admission of foreign citizens to postgraduate studies (doctoral studies) to Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute is carried out given:

  • Master’s Degree (Specialist)
  • successful entrance examination
  • university invitation.

Documents for admission to postgraduate studies are accepted during the whole year!

Duration – 4 years.

List of documents to be submitted for admission to postgraduate study:

  • a copy of the master’s degree (specialist), indicating the acquired specialty (qualification), and a copy of the appendix to it (with translation into Ukrainian language and certified by a notary). Persons who have received the relevant education abroad submit a nostrified copy of the diploma
  • Applicant’s Research proposal with signature and written conclusion of scientific supervisor
  • a list of published scientific works and inventions, certified by the head. the department at the place of preparation (as well as photocopies of 2-3 publications) with the evaluation of scientific supervisor. In the list, to select publications in specialized journals and publications, registered in science-centered databases
  • photocopy of the passport (page with photo)
  • passport and diploma (originals) are given in person after arriving on campus.

General admission procedure for international applicants

International students along with stateless persons, are able to enter and study at National Technical University of Ukraine. All students can pursue bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level programs at the university.

The duration for each of the programs lasts:

  • 4 years for undergraduate degree programs
  • 18 months to 2 years for a master’s degree program
  • 4 years for the doctoral programs.

 

Studies are conducted in both Ukrainian and English language. International students who wish to study a course that is primarily taught in Ukrainian, will have to enroll in the preparatory department for at least 6 months to 1 year.

This is to enable them have good grasp and mastery of the language.

 

Foreign citizens who already speak Ukrainian or enroll in English language courses will be confirmed and enrolled in the university.

Students need to do the following:

  • Send scanned copies of all documents of previously attended schools and programs pursued.
  • Pay $200 for original invitation from the University to be sent by courier service. This will be done for further enrollment.
  • All documents should be submitted to the consular office of Ukraine to receive entry visa to Ukraine.
  • Apply for study after you arrive in the country with all the relevant documents.
  • Attend and pass interviews successfully in specialized subjects.
  • Sign a contract, which identifies and states the rights and duties of the university and the international student throughout their period of study.
  • Pay 1 year study in accordance with the terms and conditions in the agreement.

General Cost, Budget & Living Expenses

Studying abroad is Ukraine is way cheaper than studying in USA, UK, France, Germany,  and even Cyprus etc. However, it is still studying abroad and it more expensive than studying in your home country. When deciding to study abroad, there are many costs students must consider as they make their budgets. These mainly include:

Visa and Admission

Once your admission is confirmed, the school will send you an invitation letter for your arrival to study in Ukraine. Once you receive this letter, you have to apply to Ukrainian Embassy in your country or neighboring country for a visa.

On receiving the letter and relevant documents, the embassy will proceed to issue you an entry visa into Ukraine.

 

Do You Need a Visa?

Travel without Visa — In order to study in Ukraine, you will need to legalize your stay in the territory of Ukraine after arriving.

Travel with Visa — If you are a non-EU citizen, you will need to obtain a visa at the Ukrainian embassy in your home country before your arrival in Ukraine. Once you have arrived in Ukraine, you will need to apply for your resident permit 15 days before your visa expires in order to prolong your stay.

 

Education Requirements for Student Visa

In order to study in Ukraine, you must have completed a secondary level education and be in possession of a leaving certificate that confirms that you are eligible to apply for university.

However, if you only have an equivalent qualification from your home country, you will need to have it legally recognized by the appropriate institutions. This means certifying that your diploma is in accordance with the law of the country in which it was issued. 

Additionally, if you wish to be accepted for postgraduate studies in Ukraine, you will need to present an undergraduate diploma from a Ukrainian institution or an overseas equivalent.

 

Visa Requirements & Documents

Document language:

All documents executed in a foreign language (except English) shall be accompanied by their translation into Russian. Translation of all documents must be notarized.

In order to apply for a student visa in Ukraine, you will need to submit several documents. These documents include:

  • Invitation letter from the school
  • High school or secondary school certificate with transcript
  • Valid Passport
  • Medical certificate issued not earlier than 2 months before arrival in Ukraine
  • Birth certificate
  • Health Insurance (can be issued in Ukraine)
  • 6 photos 3×4 cm
  • 6 photos 3.5×4.5 cm
  • Other documents requested by the embassy

As soon as your visa is issued to you, inform the school about it. Once the school has been informed, you can now purchase your ticket to Ukraine.

It is important that you contact the school. When you contact the school, they will request your flight and ticket details. These will be used by officials to meet you when you arrive. It is compulsory for school officials to meet students at the airport as this is a requirement of the State Border Control Service of Ukraine.

From this point, a person will be appointed to you to ensure that you cross the border safe and securely. The person will also be responsible for getting you to your place of accommodation.

 

Temporary residence permit in Ukraine

In order to obtain a temporary residence permit in Ukraine within 3 days after arriving, the international student needs to provide the Passport and Visa Office the following documents. This office can be located at the Centre for International Education.

  • Application
  • International Passport with a visa “D”, unless otherwise is provided by law and international treaties of Ukraine. Copies of the personal data and visa should also be brought along.
  • Ukrainian translated pages of international passport with personal data certified by notary or language services agency
  • Receipts of payment of the state fee
  • Six photos of 3.5×4.5 cm (on matte paper)

With all these documents provided, Temporary residence permit is then issued for the stay of the student for the duration of their study.

 

Temporary residence permit is issued to international students against countersignature with a seal of the State Migration Service of Ukraine. This is done on the last blank page in the passport belonging to the international student.

 

If there is no further reason for an extension of the temporary residence permit, the student is mandated to do the following:

  • Withdraw the registration of residence in seven days period;
  • Return a Temporary residence permit in Ukraine and Passport to the PASSPORT and VISA OFFICE of the CIE (academic building № 31 of Igor Sikorsky KPI, room № 2-01);
  • Get the “Resolution” of State Migration Service of Ukraine and passport with annulled mark in the stamp of Temporary residence permit in Ukraine;
  • Leave Ukraine.

These same steps need to be followed when an international student completes his study in Ukraine.

 

Health Insurance Requirement

International students who study in Ukraine will need to obtain a doctor’s certificate confirming that they can freely undertake study in the field of their choice. You will also need to be insured for the duration of your stay in Ukraine.

Yes, you can work but about 90% of countries don’t give student work permits… However, students can work informally and part-time… But all governments and university do not expect students to depend on their possible employment to pay for their tuition and accommodation…

In fact, it not ever possible for students to study full-time each semester and work as well and yet be able to earn enough for their tuition fees and accommodation… Not possible…

They might be able to depend on their possible work for living expense but never for tuition and accommodation…

They can’t study and still earn enough for those kinds of stuff (unless they have their own businesses).

KPI is one of the largest educational institutions in Europe. It trains more than 25,000 students each year. These include, undergraduates, postgraduates and doctorates. The school also welcomes foreign students from all over the world.
